EXTRAVIEW EXPLORA AND ZAPPA HD ON DIPLEXER

In this Extraview arrangement, we are going to see how to do Extraview with Explora decoder and the new Zappa HD decoder. Although the Zappa HD is newer than the Explora, we shall see in this article how the Explora may be used as primary decoder in the Extraview setup. All these are possible using a small device called the Diplexer.
The DStv ExtraView setup is a system that enables us to maximize views on DStv with two decoders while paying little. Of all the satellite pay-TV services, DStv has been at the fore-front of the ExtraView digital satellite TV technology. However, newer models of DStv decoders are coming into the market with more sophisticated features. Some decoders now feature absence of the RF IN and OUT ports, etc. Consequently, innovations in satellite and terrestrial TV technologies have given rise to the use of new devices. These devices enable these new decoders remain useful in setups such as the wonderful DStv ExtraView and other multi-dimensional connections.

What is DStv Diplexer? – Extraview Explora and Zappa HD

One such device is the DStv Diplexer or Combiner. This is a hi-tech device that allows signals of different formats transmit in similar paths. This creates a multi-directional, multi-purpose applications for the transmission of DStv signals. In the DStv ExtraView Connection, the Diplexer can carry satellite LNB signals and HeartBeat Communication signals. Furthermore, it can also carry RF audio/visual signals all in one transmission path.

How a Diplexer Looks like

The DStv Diplexer usually has a single or double INPUT / OUTPUT ports and THREE or more opposite ports. These opposing ports may also be used as either the INPUT / OUTPUT ports depending on the need.
It is possible and indeed very easy to use the DStv Diplexer in setting up a DStv ExtraView involving the DStv Explora decoder or the recently introduced DStv Zappa HD 5 Series decoders. In South Africa today, the 3-decoder DStv ExtraView has been very much in use but practically made possible by the technical advantages of the DStv Diplexer or Combiner.
The answer is NO. When you purchase a new DStv set – Explora or Zappa, the Diplexer is never part of the accessories. To get a Diplexer, your installer could help you purchase from independent stores in the market. The price of the Diplexer may differ depending on your location and season. However, be sure to test the whole setup after installation before the installer leaves. This is to ensure that the Diplexer is of good quality.

How to Know the type of Diplexer for Extraview Explora and Zappa HD

As I explained earlier, Diplexers come in different input and output variances. We have the single, double, triple input Diplexers and even more. Similarly, we also have the double, triple or more output port diplexers. The number of decoders and TV connections would determine the type of Diplexer to purchase. For instance, linking three decoders would require a three or above output Diplexer as the case may be. However, you still need to rely on your installer to do the actual installation and setup for you.
The next publication shall unfold the technical arrangements on how to connect the Explora decoder, the DStv Zappa HD 5 Series on an ExtraView arrangement. Keep in touch!

DSTV EXTRAVIEW SMART CONNECT; USING A DIPLEXER TO LINK EXPLORA DECODER AND ZAPPA HD 5 SERIES DECODER

Mon Aug 27 , 2018
The diagram above explains how you can set up a DStv ExtraView using a device known as the DStv Diplexer or Combiner and for connections involving the DStv Explora decoder and the new Zappa HD 5 series decoder. This kind of systematic ExtraView connection on DStv is very relevant especially for decoders without an RF-IN or RF-OUT ports. Some recently introduced smart DStv decodeers like the 5-Series HD decoders fall within this catregory. If your decoder does not have any RF-IN or RF-OUT ports behind it, and you are thinking of using it in more complex installations like the ExtraView […]
