WHERE IS AFRICA IN TERMS OF TECHNOLOGY PENETRATION?
this post tells a short story about how much of technology penetration we got in Africa using a simple video. Techs such as computer, mobile communication, smart systems, robotics, Artificial intelligence, cloud, etc.
Although this post’s video might make you laugh your hearts out, it is never the main intend. The video in this post presents a general picture of Nigeria’s level of advancement, acceptance and penetration of technology, mostly in the computer, mobile and related technologies.
If you happen to see or view any form of advanced technology in Nigeria, it does not in any way represent the general or true status quo of Nigeria’s level of technological development. I bet you may only see such hi-tech technologies and their application in adverts, fiction movies, computer aided graphics and other non-real platforms.I
In terms of internet technology penetration and accessibility such as the 5G and cloud computing, Nigeria is still a virgin promise. With over 180 million population, but with high cost and slow internet connectivity, there is still much more to be desired. An eye opener to existing and intending investors in the internet technology within the Nigeria’s cyber space.
Although Nigeria is a rich country by natural endowments and by implication capital, the money only circulates within some few rich and privileged. Why do we ship down expensive cars, computers, mobile phones, gadgets, when we knew already that only few fraction of the stated Nigerian population can afford them?
I am not proffering any solution, but to make you understand the true situation as far as Technology penetration in Nigeria is concerned.
Therefore, if any technology giant wishes to do business in Nigeria, think about how to make it affordable to the larger but poorer populace. That is where the real money and business penetration lies.
