ALL UNREGISTERED MOBILE COMMUNICATION LINES IN NIGERIA URGED TO REGULARIZE TO AVOID TOTAL DISCONNECTION

It is no longer news that the Nigeria’s National Communication Commission has ordered all telecommunication operators in Nigeria to immediately disconnect all lines that are either unregistered or partially registered. This is against the backdrop of improving security of Nigerian citizens by preventing crimes that could be perpetrated by unidentifiable mobile lines. This exercise has long commence and right now, many Nigerians have been caught between the devil and the deep blue sea.
It is surprising to note that some Nigerians could still patronize unregistered mobile lines despite the obvious security risks. This move by the NCC has revealed a lot of loop holes in mobile telecommunication safety in Nigeria.

However, there is still hope. Most telecomm providers have urged their customers to come forward even after being disconnected to regularize their personal data and have their lines reconnected instantly. I think this is a perfect move as the disadvantages of loosing one’s mobile number largely weighs against the immediate security implications. I am not saying that unregistered mobile lines should be encouraged rather, all efforts should be geared towards ensuring that people’s phone lines which may be very important to them were not lost but duly registered and restored.

Therefore, if your mobile number has been disconnected or blocked, you still have the chance to restore it by visiting any of your network service providers and submitting your personal data. Major network providers in Nigeria like MTN, GLO, ETISALAT and AIRTEL are currently urging their teeming subscribers to come forward to benefit from this extended gesture. However, I am not sure how long this gesture would last. Therefore, the earlier you do as advised, the better.
