Today, I am going to expose how satellite cable TV installers cheat customers who engage them for cable TV installations. I intend to expose all their lies and secrets, with a view to getting subscribers well informed of about installation decisions.
It is true that for virtually all the troubles, problems and challenges you may encounter with your DStv and all other satellite TV systems, you most definitely need an installer or technician to fix it. However, most installers, especially the road-side unaccredited installers devised means of short-changing customers in the name of rendering service.
From the purchase of your satellite decoder pay-TV system to installation, to periodic servicing and maintenance, the relevance of cable and satellite TV installers remain critical.
Satellite Cable TV Installers Gimmick
Unfortunately, the services of numerous installers – both freelance and accredited have not really been closely monitored. Once you engage an installer to fix your DStv or any other satellite TV, they reportedly do everything possible to rip you off. Some of these satellite TV and decoder installers would claim so many damages, hiking the price and making you believe that they are on top of the situation. if not overcharges on installation, they would inflate price of repair materials. Other times, installers would deliberately render unwholesome services, so you could reengage them after a short time period.
Installer’s Faulty LNB Tricks
I once invited an installer when I lived in Abuja, Nigeria to track my DStv signal via satellite dish. I wanted to recover lost signal connection. The satellite cable TV installer came and after some checks, told me that my satellite dish DStv Smart LNB was faulty.
I asked how much it would cost to buy another smart LNB and since he knew that I wasn’t conversant with the device and it’s price, he told me twenty thousand naira (20,000 NGN).
That price did not include his workmanship, which he also charged me five thousand naira (5,000 NGN) for. Certainly, I gave in and he did. After a period of two weeks, my DStv satellite dish lost signal connection again.
This time, I had to go to the main office of my satellite decoder and pay-TV service provider and to my greatest surprise, that same LNB was sold for just five thousand naira (5,000 NGN). As if it wasn’t enough, the particular LNB he bought for me was of inferior quality and far cheaper than the standard smart LNB.
Other Tricks and Lies from Cable TV Installers
The litany of lies and tricks by which satellite cable TV installers cheat their clients are almost endless. Sometimes, these satellite TV installers or technicians may come up with stories such as “your signal has finished”, “your decoder needs to be repaired”, “You need to change this decoder, LNB, wire, etc”.
A lot of customers who use satellite TV and decoders have had cause to complain about the quality of service obtained from these satellite TV installers. To say the least, most of them, especially the road-side installers or technicians lack integrity. They lie to maximize their profit. Although the may be efficient in the installation and servicing of cable and satellite TV technologies, they deliver but not without a huge rip off on their helpless clients.
