This article explains how to set your DStv remote control to work for ExtraView. ExtraView on DStv involves two or three decoders integrated into one aaccount and interconnected so that you pay for one decoder and view all decoders involved. It is cheaper and more entertaining to have all your rooms connected to a single account. Therefore, this article simplifies the DStv Extraview remote control settings. Now let us jump in.
One major challenge in DStv Extraview setup is to program the remote controls to work on the different TV sets. The DStv Extra-view (XtraView) usually involves two, three or more TV with different settings for remote controls. However, one remote control can control multiple TV but the settings must be done correctly before it would work. Therefore, you will learn in this article how to program DStv Extra-view remote control settings for all linked decoders and TV sets. Surprisingly, the method is very simple with just few buttons to press.
DStv remote control has features, which enables it control specific decoders independently. Although the decoders may be close to one another, the settings do not allow one remote control to affect two decoders at same time. A multi-decoder arrangement is usually seen in the DStv XtraView system, which involves cross-linking of two or three decoders.
Remote Control Settings for DStv ExtraView
Now let us go straight to show you the extra-view remote control settings. Certainly, the aim is to make a remote control work on a single decoder either for TV 1, TV 2 or TV 3. For the reason of this DStv connection type, we shall concentrate on DStv HD decoder series.
DStv Extra-view Remote Control Settings for TV 1, TV 2 Etc
To set your DStv HD decoder remote controller to work on primary decoder or TV 1;
- press and hold the INFO button or i-button for at least 3 seconds. Alternatively, press until until a green light blinks repeatedly on the tiny aperture just below the INFO button. (see image above).
However, the extra-view remote control settings for the secondary decoder or TV 2 mode is as follows;
- press and hold the BACK button for 3 seconds or until the green light blinks repeatedly on the aperture below the BACK button. (see image above)
How about programming your DStv HD remote controller to work for a third decoder or TV 3 as your arrangement may be? A combination of the TV 1 mode and TV 2 mode gives you the TV 3 activation functionality. Therefore, to set your remote control to work for a third DStv HD decoder or as involved in a 3-view Extra View configuration, simply press and hold both the INFO and BACK buttons together or simultaneously until the green light blinks on both apertures below both buttons. This is as shown in the diagram below.
