Step-by-Step Process to Block Selected Channels on DStv Explora via Parental Control
Before I begin, I need you to understand two points – firstly, that all channels on the DStv are rated. You can see some channels rated as PG 13, 16, 18, etc.
The PG 13 are exclusive to kids. These channels and programs include cartoon channels and programs that have childish or humorous orientations. DStv understands the need to broadcast children-friendly programs, both in graphics and language.
PG 16 on DStv may contain few adult oriented programs. In graphics and language, any PG 16 rated program may also be allowed for teens and young adults but are not a appropriate for kids. It is advisable to block such DStv channels and programs from children’s consumption.
PG 18 is exclusively adult. Any age below 18 should not allowed to view such channels or programs.
Secondly, it is slightly different in procedure or method of blocking channels on DStv. Since the remote controller of the DStv Explora is functionally different from the remote controllers of other decoder models. Now I shall proceed to show you how you can block your DStv channels and restrict kids from assessing some channels on the DStv Explora. Now follow these steps to block selected channels on DStv Explora decoder.
- On your DStv remote control for Explora decoder, press the DStv Burton. This DStv button is glass-blue in color and situated on the top-central part of the remote control.
- Press the DStv Button to open the SETTINGS
- Scroll to Parental Control and press it.
- A password box appears. Enter the default PIN 1234, if your EXplora is still using the default PIN.
- If however you are already using another 4 digit PIN on your DStv Explora, then input it.
I had written previously written a post on the general method of blocking channels on DStv (Parental Control). But because of slight differences in the remote control software interface designs of each decoder model, there is need to be specific as regards the DStv Explora decoder.
As the Parental Control setting opens, you can select the label of PG ratings to block, lock or restrict. By selecting PG 16, all channels and programs rated by DStv as PG 16 and above will automatically be blocked when called up on the screen.
I hope you have understood how to block some channels on your DStv Explora decoder from kids or any category of persons.
