In this article, you will learn what an F-Type Connector is. Furthermore, you are going to see hot to use an F-Type Connector to connect TV cable in all forms of TV connections including;
- Satellite TV installations and connections
- Terrestrial TV installations and connections
- Over-the-Air ariel antenna connections
- everything involving the Television and indeed all other coaxial cable devices
This article explains what an F-connector is and how it is used to connect TV cable wires. All forms of TV connections require F-connectors. it has become the most intimate tool of every installer or technician. As little as it looks, it is virtually the most important tool in decoder – TV connections.
F-Connectors are the most common tools used to connect TV cable to devices. We use F-Connectors in satellite TV installations, terrestrial antenna setup and even ordinary device-to-device linkages. However, it is important to learn how to connect devices and TV cable using F-Connector in order to save cost inviting Satellite TV installers. The F-Connector may look tiny, yet powerful. In the course of this article, I shall show you step-by-step process to connect wires to F-Connector and to devices. Certainly, it will make your DStv and other installations very easy.
How Important is using F-Connector to Connect TV Cable
However simple it may be, the slightest mistake when joining TV cable with F-Connectors leads to complete loss of signal. But do not wave it off completely. The most reoccurring aspect in all TV antenna and satellite installations is the joining of the RF (Coaxial) signal wire to the F-Connector. Therefore, it will help you to learn how to use an F-Connector to connect TV cables.
As said earlier, the role of the F-Connector in all TV (cable and satellite) connections is very central to signal reception. It is the only tool that enables the RF wire, also known as coaxial cable to be connected ether to another wire or to another device. Therefore, the tiny device is unavoidable in all types of TV connections.. A wrong approach or misguided format would lead to total loss of signal, which an amateur would find it almost impossible to detect.
Most times, a wrong or faulty F-connector – RF wire connection presents major signal challenges. However, troubleshooting a decoder detects and corrects such mistake. Certainly, DStv troubleshooting and Startimes Troubleshooting have remained most common technical instances in cable TV service applications. This is because these two pay-TV systems enjoy huge patronage respectively in Nigeria and Africa.
Connect F-Connector to Coaxial (RF Wire) – Step-by-Step Guild
Basically, this is the first step in all connections involving the F-Connector. Let me remind you that this piece of device goes with the coaxial cable as shown in the image above. However, using F-Connectors to connect TV cable requires accuracy and precision for good signal. We shall therefore take it step-by-step as we guild you through the stages of linking wires using the F-Connector.
In connecting the black or white RF / Coaxial signal wire to the F-Connector, you will see that the wire has an inner strong single iron protruding from its center.
And then, a surrounding mesh of silver colored tiny strings of iron shreds. Don not allow the thick central single iron and other surrounding wire mesh to touch each other. The thick central metal should spike out through the central hole of the F-Connector, about half an inch in length, while the other tiny shreds of silver wires are made to lap on the inner cylindrical base of the F-Connector.
When you are done with this joining, then screw in the F-Connector, now bearing the antenna wire, into the receding or input port of the other device or attaching decoder as the case may be. Ensure you screw the rotating mouth of the F-Connector, having slided in the protruding thick central single iron first. Screw until it becomes tight. Congratulations, you have successfully learnt to join and connect an RF / Coaxial wire to an F-Connector.
