STRONG Technologies Ltd has migrated its MyTV satellite TV brand to TStv. This means that STRONG decoders would stop receiving MyTV broadcasts and switch over to TStv Africa satellite TV network. This comes after STRONG Technologies Ltd reached an agreement with the Nigerian indigenous D-T-H (Direct-to-Home) satellite pay-TV service, TStv on a wholistic STRONG MyTV to TStv migration. As a result, all STRONG viewers of MyTV are gradually switching over to TStv Africa because, MyTV would stop broadcasting from September 1.
In this article, I am going to show you how you can migrate your STRONG SRT decoders to TStv Africa and switch from MyTV to TStv channels. Furthermore, you will see how to subscribe to TStv encryption channels on STRONG SRT 497S-HEVC decoders. In addition, it is very simple to scan and receive TStv channels using STRONG SRT-497S decoder models. However, STRONG Technologies Ltd also announced that all current MyTV viewers on other SRT models will gradually switch over. The STRONG MyTV to TStv migration will continue until every single MyTV viewer begins to watch TStv Africa on STRONG decoders.
Which STRONG SRT Decoder Receives TStv Africa for Now
Following the STRONG MyTV to TStv migration, the TStv Perception Manager, Temi Adebowale disclosed that only STRONG SRT 497S-HEVC decoder owners would receive TStv for now. He maintained that the 497S-HEVC decoders has the same encryption technology that matches the TStv broadcast format. Furthermore, the same SRT 497s-HEVC STRONG decoder receives MyTV signals from the same satellite, which TStv also transmits from. This is one reason the migration process from STRONG MyTV to TStv was easy and seamless.
Therefore, owners of the STRONG SRT 497S-HEVC decoders are the first to migrate to TStv satellite TV platform. Currently, the switch over to TStv is ongoing and according to TStv Africa, there would be a complete viewers’ migration soon. If you own a STRONG decoder of this model, this is how to start receiving TStv channels on your decoder.
How to Search and Receive TStv Channels using STRONG SRT 497S-HEVC Decoders
Officially, TStv Africa has taken over broadcasts on STRONG Technologies Ltd decoders. As a result, there is no more MyTV. The new change is that TStv channels now broadcast on STRONG SRT decoders, for the models that have been migrated. As said earlier, all it takes to receive TStv channels on STRONG decoders is to do a blind scan of existing satellite frequencies on that decoder and TStv channels would come greeting you.
If you own a STRONG decoder of this model and your connections have been getting signal, simply run a channel scan. This is an automatic scan, which picks up TStv channels to your surprise. The STRONG decoder shall store these channels and you are god to start enjoying TStv Africa on STRONG decoders. However, there is something you must do before you can start receiving TStv channels after scanning.
- Firstly, ensure that your current STRONG SRT 497S-HEVC decoder model is properly installed. You could read up TStv satellite dish and decoder settings to learn how to install or adjust your STRONG (formerly MyTV) yo pick TStv signals.
- If you have a working STRONG decoder that receives signals, then visit any TStv Africa office outlet and pay this migration subscription fee. Let me explain further below.
Migration Procedure for SRT 497S-HEVC Decoders
STRONG MyTV dealers are ready and willing to assist MyTV viewers with the TStv migration process. An interested SRT 497S owner will be required to pay N12,000 in migration costs. This includes the simultaneous encryption (“simulcrypt”) of TStv channels with MyTV encryption tools (“Conditional Access System”, or “CAS”).
On a successful payment, TStv credits the new customer’s wallet with the same N12,000 to spend, on any TStv subscription plan of choice. Let us recall that TStv has many unique plans such as;
- Pay-per-view
- Pay-as-You-Go
- Pay-and-Pause subscription plan
These platforms integrate with TStv packages and bouquets to give you the first of its kind in Nigeria. This is why other satellite pay-TV such as DStv feels threatened over TStv pay-as-you-go subscription policy.
What Happens to Other STRONG MyTV Users?
Now that MyTV viewers are beginning to migrate to TStv and enjoy over 150 HD channels, TStv Africa promises to carry every MyTV viewer along.

However, STRONG will continue to serve Nigerian consumers with more innovative digital TV receivers. They also promised to sustain their outstanding technical support and efficient after-sales service, despite the migration to TStv.
