You may wonder how a large five star hotel of 1,000 rooms or even more, each with a TV set showing up to 10 or more channels at the same time from DStv. Many up-coming installers and technicians may find this setup confusing and most times have lost contracts or opportunities to make money by distributing DStv signals in every room of big hotels. No matter the size of the building, no matter how many decoders involved, it is very possible and infact simple to make every TV in the building show channels from all the decoders involved at the same time. This gives users the ability to change channels by themselves at will and convenience.
In a typical DStv hotel or large building connection, the aim is to enable change of TV channels independently from every room or TV point. One point to note here is that the number of channels available to watch depends on the number of DStv decoders involved in the networking arrangement. If there are 8 decoders, then there would be 8 different channels available to watch at any point in time.
Another basic requirement is the pairing up of the decoders involved in multiples of two called the DStv Extraview arrangement. This extraview will create a primary and secondary where the former gives strength and “heartbeat” signal to the later. what happens when you pair two decoders in an extraview is that the primary decoder is now able to convey to any TV the signals coming from both it and its secondary decoder. To do this however, you must reset the UHF frequencies of both decoders to different values of your choice.
This implies that if you have 8 decoders which produces 4 extraview setups of primary and secondary combination, the RF-OUT ports of all the primary decoders in the 4 extraview setups will transmit all 8 different channels coming from all 8 decoders used in the separate 4 extraview linkages.
How to Technically Setup and Link all Extra Views for DStv Hotel Rooms Connection
Assuming you have separately linked all 8 or more DStv decoders in extraview setups, connect a wire from the RF-OUT ports of all the primary decoders. Each of these cables coming from the RF-OUT ports bear TV channel signals of their primary as well as their secondary decoders.
At this point, connect or join these cables manually observing the positive ad negative terminal rules, to produce a single wire. This single wire produced possesses TV channels from all the primary and secondary decoders transmitting at different frequencies. But because these signals may have different strengths and quality, a signal booster is engaged at this point.
The single cable generated is fed into the INPUT prt of a signal booster which must have multiple outputs. Depending on how many rooms or TVs you intend to connect, a tactical splitting is done here to prevent loss of signal quality and strength. If there are many more TVs to connect to more than the available outs of the signal booster, a secondary booster could be employed further down the transmission line to re-energize the fading signal. digital satellite or terrestrial TV signals usually fade as they travel longer distances. One can easily get a quality signal booster in the open market.
At this point, a single boosted signal cable is connected to a TV in any of the rooms. After connecting all TVs, conduct a manual or automatic search for channels on the TV and you will be amazed to see all the channels coming from all the decoders you used in the entire setup. Usually, there could be a control room where all the decoders are situated but from the comfort of your room, one can access all the TV channels from all the DStv decoders involved in the entire hotel or large building setup.

I’m most grateful for this information. Thank you.
Hi. Thank you for the information. But how does each decoder select the channel to send to the TVs.
Hi. Thank you for the information. But how does each decoder select the channel to send to the TVs.
Thanks for that information but I was wondering how it’s done if it’s the HD decorders which does not have the RF ports
