Yes! The DStv new HD 5 Series Decoder can be used in the ExtraView connection despite the fact that it does not use RF, only HDMI. Interesting is the fact that as other conventional decoders in ExtraView communicate through the “Heartbeat” cable, the new DStv HD 5 Series Decoder’s Heartbeat communication with the Explora 2-Tuner and other ExtraView compatible decoders is through the Smart LNB situated on the satellite dish
This is to say that to use the new DStv HD 5 Series Decoder for ExtraView with other compatible decoders, you must use a Smart LNB. There is no other wire connectivity between the two decoders in ExtraView except that which runs from the Smart LNBs on the dish.
