CTL means Communications Trends Limited. It is a long-existing digital terrestrial pay TV service provider in Nigeria. Due to lack of economic and technology infrastructure, CTL has suffered virtual slow market penetration in Nigeria. Most people rarely know much about CTL. CTL Installation
Similar to the GOtv installation, CTL is a cable TV that comes with an Ariel antenna called a Pointer. As a digital terrestrial signal carrier, CTL TV network is transmitted in form of rich assay of radio waves through coaxial cables. Consequently, CTL special cable pointers intercept these signals when properly positioned. This is to say that it is a direction-based TV reception system. To install CTL and for best signal reception, height and physical obstructions are seriously avoided. In addition, one must know the direction from which the CTL signal transmitter is coming from.
The best way to receive strong and quality CTL signals is to raise the pointer so high above every obstruction, while pointing to face the signal sender. When done, the pointer must be firmly locked into position to avoid wind or any other thing dislodging the CTL antenna from position.
Afterwards, the coaxial cable is connected to the antenna with an F-Connector and wired down to the decoder, which has to be a fully subscribed CTL-provided set-top box.
CTL Decoders
CTL has two classes of decoders; standard definition display decoders and High Definition HD decoders. Depending on desire and pocket, you may choose to buy either of them. However, the two types of CTL decoders are the same in installation mechanisms. Furthermore, their subscriptions and general functions are also same. However, the only difference is that the CTL HD decoders receive high definition signals and present more crystal clear images. CTL TV Channels
In program contents, CTL features popular global events such as in sports, news, movies and documentaries. Some prominent CTL sports programs are the Premier league, EUFA Champions league, La Liga and other interesting sporting events. Additionally, CTL is a major player as they show both African and foreign movies. News and entertainment are not left out also. in fact, CTL TV channels can relatively be compared to DStv Premium Channels in category and genre respects.
CTL Signal Coverage
In Nigeria, CTL signals are received in all parts of the country, or at least their states capitals. Previously, the TV signals were only received in major cities such as Portharcourt, Lagos, Abuja, Owerri, Kaduna, Kano, Enugu etc.
As said earlier, preventing tall buildings, trees and mountains from blocking your CTL pointer view helps you to pick up the CTL signals wherever you are in Nigeria.
CTL Subscription Package and Plans
In my previous post, I detailed on how to pay for CTL subscription and reconnect your decoder. Interestingly, CTL has only one major way to subscribe. This is however, if you do not wish to go to any of their dealer offices to pay cash and get reconnected. Although there are few free-to-air channels on CTL, I doubt you may enjoy its multitude of channels if you do not subscribe. CTL decoders currently costs between NGN8,000 and NGN10,000.
However, the CTL subscription packages cost NGN2,800 per month for all their channels. As I said earlier, you may pay cash in any dealer office or buy the recharge card, which contains the secret recharge PIN for subscription recharge.
