Interestingly, the new DStv HD Single View decoder is powered with a HDMI port, ANTENNA-IN ports, aUDIO/vISUAL av PORTS ETC.
Under normal circumstances, the RF-IN and RF-OUT ports are very important in the ExtraView Connectivity as well as connecting one decoder to display in multiple TVs. Alternative Ways to Extra-View DStv HD Single View 5 Series Decoder
On the back of the DStv HD 5 Series, there is only one ANT-IN port. This port serves two purposes. This ANT-IN port serves as the LNB signal wire-IN connector as well as the Heart-Beat Communication port during Extra View connections. The ANT-IN RF port relays both signals accordingly and at same time. Therefore you may ask how one may use a single point for dual purposes at the same time?
All you need is the Y-shaped RF connecting device. This single 3-point RF connector have 3 RF or coaxial cable mouthed ends of which one may utilise one end as the input and the other two as outputs as the case may be. Once one end of the Y-shaped RF connector has been linked into the ANT-IN port of the DStv HD 5 Series decoder, the other two free RF openings may now serve for the satellite dish LNB signal cable and the other for any ExtraView HeartBeat communication cable. It is as simple as that and it works automatically without any other form of MENU Settings adjustments.
Alternative Ways to Connect the Latest DStv HD Single View Decoder 5 Series to Extra TV Points
In extending your HD decoder to also display in other TVs in other rooms of your house or anywhere, the AV ports of the decoder comes into play. This time, all you need is an AV/RF Converter device or a Modulator.
Both devices are similar in appearance and function and are both connected seamlessly without any parameter settings. Thus it is very easy to use.
